I was advised to use Farm Oxide grey primer undercoat as it is waterproof & can be overpainted
after many years if like myself you cannot guarantee doing each coat within three days or so !

Use good quality masking tape and remove it as soon as possible, preferably before the paint is
even touch dry :: definitely do not leave on overnight, or in damp conditions, IT WON'T come off
Try to use an undercoat which is a fraction lighter in colour than the final coat, so scratches do
not show through, and if at all possible put second coat on within 48 hours, to avoid sanding .
